Dr. Van Straaten has assisted multiple law firms as a technical expert including court testimony. Legal cases have focused on water ingress issues leading to wood rot in problematic New Zealand wall systems. BELi’s laboratory gathered insights on these vulnerabilities through a three-phase full scale wall system test. The testing included: 1) reconditioning water sprays; 2) drainage tests; and 3) monitoring of drying.
